Ecole Polytechnique Students in US Universities
The "Friends of" supports students spending their fourth year in US Universities, allowing them to expand their field of knowledge through an American experience. This support contributes to the efforts of Ecole Polytechnique in reinforcing its ties with renowned international universities and in increasing the visibility and the impact of its international programs.

Abdul Barakat
Le Fonds AXA pour la Recherche et l'Ecole Polytechnique, soutenue par la Campagne, ont permis de créer une chaire en ingénierie cellulaire cardiovasculaire. Elle est portée par le Professeur américain Abdul Barakat, actuellement professeur au laboratoire d'hydrodynamique de l'Ecole (LadHyx), recruté grâce au Fonds d'attractivité auquel le "Friends of" participe. Pour la première fois, l'athérosclérose (épaississement de la paroi des artères obstruées par des plaques d'athérome formées par le choléstérol) fera l'objet d'une approche transdisciplinaire mariant biologie et ingénierie. Les maladies cardiovasculaires et les attaques cardiaques sont aujourd'hui les deux premières causes de mortalité en Europe.

Les chercheurs internationaux recrutés grâce au "Friends of"
Julia Wolf
Elle était professeur à Rutgers University, NJ (USA) avant de rejoindre l'Ecole Polytechnique à la rentrée 2010 auprès du Centre de Mathématiques Laurent Schwartz. Ses travaux de recherche se concentrent sur les structures de l'arithmétique dans les ensembles denses de nombres entiers et combine l'analyse de Fourier à des méthodes combinatoires et probabilistes. Le "Friends of" a permis son recrutement à travers le Fonds d'attractivité.

Les succès de la Campagne aux USA en 2010
Ce sont plus de 381 000 € en dons et engagements qui ont été collectés aux Etats-Unis en 2010 à travers le Friends of Ecole Polytechnique, ce qui confirme la bonne progression de la Campagne outre-Atlantique. Avec aujourd’hui 11 grands donateurs et 35 anciens contribuant au Fonds annuel, la participation des X d’Amérique est de 9% un taux supérieur à la moyenne française, sachant que 60% de ces donateurs habitent la région de New York.
X-Columbia Exchange Program
Columbia University and Ecole Polytechnique expand their long-term academic collaboration with a yearly transatlantic exchange of faculty within the "Alliance" Program. This professor exchange program allows one faculty member from EP to be in residence at Columbia for one semester, and one faculty member from Columbia to be in residence at EP for one semester, generating high level exchanges between professors and students. The fundraising campaign in the US strongly supports Alliance, a prestigious partnership between École Polytechnique, Columbia University, Sciences Po and the Université of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. Its goal is to initiate and accompany new initiatives in the fields of education cooperation, research collaboration, and policy outreach.
